A 7-week class series led by Lisa Haake, certified yoga therapist. This series is suitable for beginners as well as students who want to dust off their mats.  The basics of yoga will be explored in a safe and low-stakes environment in a small group setting.  No experience or Lululemon necessary! 

Classes will include the following core concepts and practices:

  • How to safely do the postures

  • The equipment (mats, blocks, straps, etc.) and how to use it

  • Breathing techniques

  • Mindfulness and Meditation

  • Energy channels, chakras and mudras (hand gestures)

  • Defining and understanding yoga

  • The history of yoga

  • How yoga strengthens and restores the nervous system

  • How yoga reduces everyday suffering

At the end of the series you’ll feel confident and prepared to attend a yoga class at a studio, the Y or the park district. And, you’ll likely feel better in your body, mind and spirit.
