Foundations of Yoga

Saturday mornings, June 28-August 9 10:00 - 11:30 am

A seven week series intended for beginners (and those who want to dust off their mats) focused on the basics of yoga including:

  •  How to safely do the postures including modifications to suit all ages and body types

  • The equipment (mats, blacks, straps, etc.) and how to use it

  • Breathing techniques

  • Mindfulness and Meditation

  • Energy channels, chakras and mudras (hand gestures)

  • Yoga mythology

  • Defining and understanding yoga — what IS it??

  • The history of yoga

  • How yoga strengthens and restores the nervous system

  • How yoga reduces every suffering

You’ll complete the series feeling confident and prepared to attend a yoga class at a studio, the Y or the park district.  And, you’ll likely feel better in your body, mind and spirit.

$150 for the entire series
